ALTEMARE Legal
Privacy & Cookie Policy
ALTEMARE respects your privacy. This notice explains what personal data we collect when you browse yachts, request or book a charter, or list a yacht with us — and how we look after it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.
Last updated: August 2026 · Applies to: the ALTEMARE platform and related booking services
1. Who we are
The data controller for the ALTEMARE platform is ALTEMARE ("ALTEMARE", "we", "us"). You can reach our privacy team at [email protected].
ALTEMARE's registered company details and governing-law jurisdiction are being finalised and will be published in this document before public launch. Every charter you book is additionally governed by the Charter Agreement you sign, which names the operator, the yacht and the terms of that specific charter.
ALTEMARE is a marketplace: charters are performed by independent yacht operators ("Operators"). Where an Operator processes your data to perform your charter — for example your crew manifest — the Operator is a separate controller of that data.
2. Data we collect
Identity and contact data
Name, email address, telephone number, and country of residence, collected when you create an account, make an enquiry, or book a charter.
Charter and passenger data
Charter dates, destination, yacht selection, guest count, and the passenger details you provide during booking (names and ages of the charter party). Operators and maritime authorities may require this information as a crew/passenger manifest before boarding.
Payment data
Payments are processed by Stripe. Your full card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers; we receive only a payment reference, the card brand, and the last four digits. Stripe's processing is governed by its own privacy policy.
Contract and signature data
When you sign a charter agreement digitally, we record the agreement text, your acceptance, and an audit trail (timestamp, IP address, and browser identifier) as evidence of execution.
Technical and usage data
IP address, device and browser type, pages visited, searches performed, and yachts saved to favourites — used to run, secure, and improve the platform.
We do not knowingly collect special-category data (health, beliefs, biometrics) or data about criminal convictions. If you share access or dietary requirements with our concierge so a charter can be prepared for you, we pass them to the Operator solely for that purpose and only with your consent.
3. How we use your data
- To perform your contract — creating your account, processing bookings and payments, generating the charter agreement, and passing required details to the Operator of the yacht you book.
- Legitimate interests — securing the platform, preventing fraud, improving search and recommendations, and providing customer and concierge support.
- Legal obligations — accounting and tax records, responding to lawful requests, and maritime passenger-manifest requirements where applicable.
- With your consent — marketing emails about destinations, yachts, and offers. You can withdraw consent at any time via the unsubscribe link or your account settings.
5. International transfers
Charter destinations, Operators, and some of our service providers are located outside the UK and EEA. Where your data leaves the UK/EEA, we rely on adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses to protect it. Details of the safeguards for a specific transfer are available from [email protected].
6. How long we keep data
- Booking, contract, and payment records — kept for 6 years after the charter, to meet accounting, tax, and legal-claim obligations.
- Account data — kept while your account is active, and deleted or anonymised within 30 days of a deletion request unless we must keep it for the reasons above.
- Enquiries that do not become bookings — kept for 24 months, then deleted.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is limited to staff who need it, and payment credentials are held only by Stripe. We have procedures for suspected data breaches and will notify you and the regulator where the law requires it.
8. Your rights
Under UK and EU data-protection law you have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal data; to restrict or object to our processing (including direct marketing, which we will always stop on request); and not to be subject to solely automated decisions with legal effect.
To exercise any right, email [email protected]. You can also complain to your data-protection authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk); in the EU, the authority of your member state.
10. Children
Our services are for adults. You must be 18 or older to hold an account or book a charter. Details of minors appear only where you include them in a charter party manifest, and are used solely to perform that charter.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the platform and the law evolve. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the current version; for material changes we will notify you by email or in-app notice, and seek fresh consent where the law requires it.
